Many local organizations offer career counseling and employment services. Below is a short list of some of these organizations that work to help people find jobs and broaden our community’s skill base.
ASIAN HUMAN SERVICES

The Career Resource Center provides clients support to obtain appropriate career opportunities. The Work First program serves clients receiving Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) by providing them with job-readiness training classes, subsidized work experience, and subsidized job placements.
CAMBODIAN ASSOCIATION OF ILLINOIS

Employment Training and Development helps 200 adults each year interview, gain, and maintain employment via assessments, computer training, bi-lingual translations, literacy instruction, job-readiness preparation, placement and on-going assistance.
CARE FOR REAL

Since its foundation in November of 2011, Care For Real’s employment program has been serving our community in a new way: putting the community to work! This initiative recognizes those who are seeking employment, and provides them with opportunities and the tools to self-stabilize and live a more economically secure life. The program currently provides a range of employee readiness and training services to over 300 clients and the numbers are increasing weekly.

CHINESE MUTUAL AID ASSOCIATION

The Employment Department helps immigrants, refugees, and other residents of Chicago’s Uptown community achieve economic self-sufficiency through comprehensive employment services.
CORNERSTONE COMMUNITY OUTREACH

The Dinner Guest Program located at 4628 North Clifton Avenue, serves 150-200 people nutritious free meals one day a week. The Food Bag Program hands out more than 70 food bags each week to those in the area who are on the edge of independent survival. All individuals walking through the doors may also receive household items and clothing from the free store.

HOUSING OPPORTUNITIES FOR WOMEN
